You’ve got your visas and documents ready for each stop on your itinerary, but have you considered what you need to help protect your health?
If you’re lucky enough to be visiting multiple destinations on your trip, make sure you know the dengue risks of each country or region you’re visiting.
The mosquitoes that spread dengue are found mainly, but not always, in warmer, more humid climates.1 Outbreaks of dengue occur periodically and tend to have seasonal patterns, and often peak around rainy seasons.2
Each year, worldwide, up to 400 million people are estimated to get infected with the dengue virus. Approximately 100 million people are estimated to get sick from infection and approximately 40,000 people are estimated to die from severe dengue each year.3
The risks of getting dengue vary according to country and time of year, so before you travel, keep informed of the risks of every stop on your journey.
