Contact your doctor well in advance of your travel date
Discuss with your doctor any preventative treatments, medications, vaccinations and health documentation you may need
Collect prescription medications for any existing medical conditions Make sure you have enough for your trip but remember that countries vary in their rules for medications; check the rules for all the countries you're going to, including countries that you're just passing through1
A Copy of your prescription
A letter from your doctor with details of your medicine, including its generic name (not just the brand name), the name of the health condition that you need the medicine for
